Joseph C. (Joe) Geagea had a distinguished 40-year career with Chevron Corporation, retiring in June 2022 as Executive Vice President and Senior Advisor to Chevron’s Chairman and CEO.
Geagea was a member of Chevron’s Executive Committee and in his last role at Chevron, Geagea was Chevron’s Executive Vice President of Technology, Projects and Services where he was responsible for energy technology; delivery of capital projects; cybersecurity; corporate procurement; digital and information technology; asset performance and process safety; health, safety and environment; business and real estate services; environmental management; and talent selection in support of Chevron’s worldwide operations.
Prior roles include president of Chevron Gas and Midstream, responsible for commercializing Chevron’s natural gas resources and overseeing the company’s shipping, pipeline, power and trading activities. He was also responsible for Chevron’s upstream activities in Bangladesh, Cambodia, China, Myanmar, Thailand and Vietnam and led Chevron’s downstream operations in East Africa, the Middle East and Pakistan.
Geagea earned a Bachelor’s and a Master’s degrees in civil engineering from the University of Illinois at Urbana Champaign in 1981 and 1982, respectively. He is a distinguished alumnus of its College of Engineering.
He is a member of the American Society of Civil Engineers. Previously he served on the board of trustees of the San Francisco Ballet. He also served on the board of directors of the National Action Council for Minorities in Engineering (NACME) where he received a Lifetime achievement award.
Currently, he chairs the University of Illinois Civil Engineering Department External Advisory Board, is a Senior Advisor to Tanium Corp., serves on the Board of Trustees of Houston Grand Opera, the Board of Governors of the Middle East Institute, and the Board of Directors of Worley Group of companies.
