Steven Howard is the Director of Government Affairs at ATFL, where he spearheads the organization’s engagement with the US administration and Congress. Steven also contributes to ATFL’s policy initiatives, such as its working groups and policy papers.
Prior to joining ATFL, Steven advocated for international religious freedom in the Middle East with In Defense of Christians. Steven is a Returned Peace Corps Volunteer (Morocco: 2015-17) who focused his service on empowering local changemakers to establish community libraries and promote global citizenship.
He earned an M.A. in Human Rights from the Catholic University of America and a B.A. in Political Science from Azusa Pacific University. Steven is of Lebanese and Portuguese descent and is a native of San Jose, California. He now lives in the Washington, DC area with his family.
